Mary Lee Strong

WELLMAN - Mary Lee Strong was born November 7, 1938, in Albany, Oregon, the daughter of Ernest and Mabel (Stutzman) Heyerly. She graduated from Western Mennonite High School and Hesston College in 1959, with an Associates of Arts degree in Bible. On August 20, 1959, Mary Lee was united in marriage to Sam Strong at the Fairview Mennonite Church in Albany, Oregon. They lived in Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri before moving to Wellman, Iowa in 1992. Mary Lee was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church and Mennonite Women. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. Mary Lee enjoyed piecing quilts, making crafts and doing crossword puzzles. Mary Lee passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 79 years.
Mary Lee is survived by her husband Sam of Wellman, a daughter: Karissa (Todd) Hochstetler of Arthur, North Dakota, a son: Jeff (Carolyn) Strong of Fairfax, Virginia, 4 grandchildren: Evan and Seth Strong, Abigail and Errol Hochstetler, and 2 brothers: John (Jeanne) Heyerly of Shipshewana, Indiana, Dan (Anne) Heyerly of Eugene, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Kathyrn Nofziger.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the Wellman Mennonite Church. Pastor Nathan Ramer will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. A memorial fund has been established for Mennonite Central Committee Kits.
