Mary Jean Harris

North English- Mary Jean Harris was born March 3, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Louis John & Goldie May (Pickenpaugh) Robu. She moved with her family to the North English area in 1942. She graduated from North English High School. On December 11, 1949, Jean was united in marriage to Richard Allen Harris in Sigourney. She worked as a chiropractic receptionist for Dr. Roller & Dr. Kolosik for 45 years. Jean was a member of the North English Christian Church, the South English Commercial Club and the English Valley Saddle Club. She served on the First Resources board in Sigourney for 4 years and the bookkeeper for the North English Community Center. Jean died on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Crestview Acres in Marion at the age of 88 years.

She is survived by her husband Dick of North English; two daughters: Barbara (Allan) Rickard of Hiawatha and Jan (Kevin) Stephenson of Harlingen, Texas; four grandchildren: Bradley (Karrie) Rickard, Traci (Cody) Nichols, Karissa (Ricky) Salvato & Jeremy Stephenson; five great grandchildren Blake & Kyle Rickard, Parker & Leigha Nichols & Braelynn Salvato; four siblings Joe Robu, Connie (Dale) Baack of Homestead, Jim (Pat) Robu of Branson, Missouri and Jack (Vernie) Robu of Nephi, Utah. She was preceded by her parents; a son Rick Harris; two sisters Dorothy McNaughton and Rita Evans; and two brothers Duane & Mayford Robu.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Jane Titsworth will officiate. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home.
