Williamsburg- Mary Louise Everhart was born March 30, 1947, in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn and Luella (Dowell) Straight. She graduated from Bedford Community High School in 1965 where she was very active especially in band and cheerleading. She went on to graduate from Peru State College with a degree in Library Science. Mary was united in marriage to William Everhart on January 22, 1967, in Bedford, Iowa. Mary started the public library in Amana where she was the librarian for 28 years. Mary enjoyed reading, flowers, birds, vacationing, and spending time with her family. Mary was very proud of her father’s accomplishments in baseball and loved hearing his stories of pitching at Iowa State University and for the local town team the Bedford Bruins! This fostered a love for the game, and she so enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play ball. She would attend every game she could, and when she could not be there in person, she would always follow along on GameChanger. She was a member of the Williamsburg Library board and loved being involved with the building of the new library. She was also a member of the local Garden Club, PEO and Delta Kappa Gamma. Mary passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital at the age of 76 years.
Mary is survived by her husband, William, of Williamsburg; daughter, Emily (Darrell) Campbell, of Homestead; son, Jacob (Kristin) Everhart, of Bettendorf; 5 grandchildren, Carly and Cady Campbell, Owen, Cole and Alec Everhart; two sisters, Pam Browne and Claire (Tom) Sawyer all of Bedford and many nieces and nephews.
