WELLMAN-Mary C. Prall, age 96, of Wellman, formerly of Sigourney, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at Parkview Manor in Wellman, following a brief illness. Mary was born on June 5, 1910, in Wellman, to Winchester and Clara (Taylor) Crossett and lived in Wellman for 10 years before moving to Washington with her parents. In 1928 she graduated from Washington High School and on October 11, 1930 she married Arthur Prall. The couple resided in Washington for 17 years before moving to Sigourney where they owned the S & S Shoe Store for many years. On April 21, 1935 they became the parents of Jack A. Prall. Jack became a resident at Parkview Manor in 1996 and Mary moved to Wellman to be near him. Mary was a devoted wife and mother, spending many hours at her son's bedside until he passed away July 12, 2001. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman and was a former member of P.E.O. in Sigourney. She enjoyed flowers and until recently cared for her small flower garden. Survivors include a sister-in-law: Joy Crossett of Washington, nine nieces, four nephews and a special friend: Melanie Haupert of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Arthur on September 23, 1992; son: Jack; three sisters: Ruth, Ellen and Nellie and eight brothers: Earl, Carl, Charlie, Keith, Gene, Roy, DeLoss and Robert. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wellman Library Association or Asbury United Methodist Church. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
