Mary Alice (Davis) Dubishar was born on September 8, 1919, near Corydon, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie B. and Helen (Goodall) Davis. She graduated form Corydon High School and attended Grinnell College for 2 years. She taught school in southern Iowa, Johnson County and Conesville. Mary Alice was united in married Joseph Arnold Dubishar on November 11, 1943 in North Liberty, Iowa. After there marriage and while Arnold was in the service she lived in Cedar Rapids and worked at a child daycare. When Arnold returned home the couple moved to Williamsburg. In Williamsburg Mary Alice was a secretary for the Elementary School for a few years, ran a preschool in her home and later worked at the Junior High office in the morning and in the High School office in the afternoon retiring in 1986. Mary Alice was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, were she was very active in the U.M.W., the supervisor of the Merry Monkeys and helped with the blankets that are sent to the University of Iowa Bone Marrow unit for children. Mary died on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at the Colonial Manor in Amana after a brief illness at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 11days. She is survived by her two daughters: Laurinda Dubishar of Minneapolis, MN and Nancy (Mike) Parker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandsons: Ben (Jill) Parker, Zach Parker and Paul Levisee; a sister Evelyn Weddel of Fort Collins, Colorado and a sister-in-law Mildred Davis of Clover, South Carolina and special family friends: Warren and Mary Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph in 1999 and brother Dwight Davis. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the St Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 24, 2006 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg.
