Mary A. Boal, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, February 9th, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Stiles and Pastor Jason Holtgrewe officiating. Private burial will be in Finley Cemetery at a later date. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to the Finley Chapel UMC, Finley Cemetery Association, and Guegler Group Home (a division of Hope Haven). On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born June 11, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Mary Arlena was the daughter of Guy Maurice and Wilma Lydia Seberg Eubank. She attended Crawford Country School and graduated from Olds High School in 1948. She attended the University of Iowa for one year. On January 14, 1951, Mary was united in marriage to W. Dean Boal at Finley Chapel UMC. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2001. Mary worked as a secretary for Central States Insurance, Iowa Wesleyan College, and Swedesburg Lutheran Church from which she retired after 18 years. Family, church, and sharing her time with others were the center of her life. Mary believed in volunteering and was active at the Swedish Museum in Swedesburg, IA and for Henry County Health Center Auxiliary. She was a dedicated member of Finley Chapel where she held many offices in the church and the United Methodist Women. Mary was the current organist, a talent she shared with the church for over 60 years. She enjoyed reading, history, flowers and music.Mary is survived by four children, Amy (Paul) Eiserman of Mundelein, IL, Jean (Kim) Holtgrewe of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Valerie Boal of Burlington, IA, and Rosemary (Steve) Burnett of Oskaloosa, IA; a sister, Norma J. Rodgers of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and an aunt, Nona Roe of Mt. Pleasant, IA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Chad (Marti) Boal, Mitch Boal, Nathan Boal, Erin Eiserman, Timothy Eiserman, Jason (Kelsey) Holtgrewe, Jared (Stacy) Holtgrewe, Jacob Burnett, Kathryn Burnett and a great-granddaughter, Campbell Holtgrewe. Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one son, Michael D. Boal, and a sister, Alice M. Hawbaker.
