Marvin A. Goodrich, age 76, of Brooklyn, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Unity Point Health - Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center, Brooklyn. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center, Brookyn. A private burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn, at a later date. Casual, BGM or Hawkeye attire is what Marvin would have wanted for those attending his services. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Brookyn, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marvin was born February 26, 1948 in Grinnell, the son of Marion and Florence (Bartachek) Goodrich. He graduated from BGM High School, where he was an amazing football player. Marvin was united in marriage to Annette Kriegel in 2005. He was an employee for the BGM School district and as a bus driver for 26 years. Marvin liked going to flea markets and antiquing. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Marvin had a wonderful sense of humor and loved his family. He enjoyed going to the children’s and grandchildren’s school activities.
Left to cherish Marvin’s memory is his wife of 18 years, Annette; five children, Alan, Stephanie, Nick (Tabatha), Ben (Samantha) and Gabe (Shawn) Goodrich; two step-children, Shawn (Heidi) Minnaert and Nate (Cassie) Minnaert; 10 grandchildren, Seth and Acacia Torbensen, Autumn, Gavin and Gracie Goodrich, Sheldyn Goodrich, Jett Alden and Beau Goodrich, Bevin Knight and Brynlee Goodrich; six step-grandchildren, Cade Minneart, Makya (Josh) Beaderstadt, Karsyn, Karagyn, Emersyn and Lawson Minnaert; and one step-great-grandson Reiley Beaderstadt; a sister, Joan Hall; two sisters-in-law, Mar Lou and Karen Goodrich. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Louis, James and Gary Goodrich, a sister, Mary Jane Heishman, two brothers-in-law, Roger Hall and Virgil Heishman.
