Marvin E. "Butch" Ford, 63 of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA. At his request, Mr. Ford's body has been cremated. No visitation or memorial services are being planned. The Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant assisted the family with arrangements. Born March 18, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Marvin Earl was the son of Warren E. and Flora Collins Ford. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Butch served for four years in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He married Norma Steele in July of 1973. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2008. Butch was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. He enjoyed attending stock car races in Burlington and following the NASCAR circuit. Butch is survived by two brothers. Roger Ford of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Don Ford of Niota, IL; a step-daughter, Brenda K. Jordan of Connecticut; and a special friend, Carlene Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA. He is also survived by one brother and one sister, of unknown whereabouts. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Norma.
