WEST CHESTER- Marvin C. Yoder, was born on September 15, 1924, near Wellman, Iowa, a son of Cornelius and Eugena (Testruit) Yoder. He served in the US Army from September 3, 1943 until March 4, 1946. On July 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Miller, in Bettendorf, Iowa. He owned Marv's DX Gas Station, in West Chester, Iowa. He has lived in the Wellman and West Chester communities throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the American Legion. Marvin died on Friday, October 31, 2008, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, Iowa following a lengthy illness, at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his 2 sons- Richard (Lorna) Yoder of Boulder, CO and Ronald (Debbie) Yoder of Casper, WY; 2 daughters- Carla Brunk of West Chester, IA and Carmen (Chris) Woods of Washington, IA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 4 sisters- Bernice Darnald of Malvern, IA, Leila Stroeh of LaCrosse, WI, Margaret Brogla and Janice Wenman both of Coralville, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary; 4 sisters- Dessel, Glennis, Wilma and Doris; a brother Don; and a son-in-law Phil Brunk. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Pastor Marlene Jansen will officiate. Burial will be in the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-8 PM with the family present from 5-8 PM at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for the Washington County Hospice.
