South Amana- Marlys Kay Stithem was born August 12 1945 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold Melvin & Gladys A. (Heitshusen) Tschopp. She attended Immanuel Parochial School and graduated from Williamsburg High School. On February 16 1983 Marlys was united in marriage to Charles Keith Stithem in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a member of St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and visiting with family and friends. Marlys died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 70 years.
She is survived by her husband Charles of Williamsburg; a sister Kella Jane Tschopp of Fairfield; a niece Dorae (David) Rippey of Fairfield; three great nephews: Dalton, Drake and Dallen; cousins: Gloria (Kenny) Wichmann of Williamsburg, Kenneth (Sue) Tschopp of Marion and Gary (Judy) Von Ahsen of Jefferson. She was preceded by her parents.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Rev. Karl Heck will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 12:00 -2:00 pm at the Church. Memorials may be given to St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsburg or Safe Haven of Iowa County. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
