Marlene (Worrall) Deatsch, age 69, of Louisburg, Kansas and formerly of North English and North Liberty, died on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Vintage Park in Louisburg, Kansas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from 4 pm to 8 pm. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. A general memorial fund has been established. Marlene Jean Deatsch was born on May 14, 1943 near Deep River, Iowa, a daughter of Leighton Arthur and Eva Ruth Grimm Worrall. She grew up in the North English community and graduated from English Valley High School in 1961. Marlene married James Deatsch in 1963. They were later divorced. She lived in the Iowa City area before moving to Kansas four years ago. She enjoyed scrap-booking, sewing, embroidery and quilting. She is survived by her children: James (Cathy) Deatsch of North Liberty, IA; Paula Shull (Shane Feeney) of North Liberty, IA; and Kelly (Christiane) Deatsch of Louisburg, KS; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother Gary (Vera) Worrall of Montezuma, IA; sisters Frances (Mike) Thomas of Olathe, Kansas, and Janice (Gary) Semler of Keswick, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister Sandra.
