Mark Fraise

Mark Fraise, 54, of Salem, IA, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 12 - 6 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. that afternoon. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 16th at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 803 E. Mapleleaf Drive, with Pastor Mike Hess officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Brittney Fraise College Education Fund. The son of Victor Edward and Jean Clementine (Peterman) Fraise, Mark Anthony was born May 28, 1959 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He attended Mt. Pleasant Community High School and graduated in 1977. He attended welding classes at Southeastern Community College. For many years, Mark worked as a farmhand for Larry Thornton. He later worked as a welder at Boldt Welding. He was last employed at Agri-Center fulfilling many duties. Actively involved in the agricultural community, Mark served as a board member for Henry County Pork Producers, Henry County Cattlemens Association and Henry County Fair Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring old tractors. A very giving person, he was always willing to help a neighbor or a friend. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his children. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include three children, Elizabeth (Jason) Swackhamer of Wayland, IA, Derek Fraise of New London, IA, and Brittney Fraise of Salem, IA; a grandson, Bryce Fraise of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his father, Vic Fraise of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three brothers, Dennis Fraise, Tom Fraise and Mike (Becky) Fraise all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and three sisters, Ann Griffin of Richland, IA, Kathy Fraise and Joan Panos both of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Preceding Mark in death are his mother, Jean; and a son, Silas Fraise.
