Mark E. Weber, age 86, of Keota, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Maplewood Manor in Keota, following a long illness. Mark was born March 24, 1921, near Clear Creek, Iowa, to John B. and Caecilia (Peiffer) Weber and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On October 30, 1945, he married Dolores B. Vogel at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. The couple lived and farmed in the Keota community, retiring in 1987. Mark was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed wood crafting and having coffee with friends. Survivors include five children: Sandra Williams and husband Dwight of Richland, Sara Veerhusen and husband Dan of Cedar Rapids, Linda McNurlen and husband Charlie of Carlyle, Illinois, Greg Weber and wife Pat of Keota and Annette Nelson and husband Roger of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Renee Riess and husband Curtis of Conroy, Valerie McNurlen and fiancé Tristan Nolte of Carlyle, Il., and Nathan McNurlen and wife Erin of St. Louis, Mo.; 3 step grandchildren: Arthur Hess and wife Misty of Iowa City, Kevin Hess and wife Liz of Washington, Alice Hess of Branson, Mo.; 7 step great grandchildren; five brothers: Norbert Weber of Keota, Wilfrid Weber of Portsmouth, Virginia, Paul Weber of Keota, Isidore "Doc" Weber of Kalona and J. Anthony Weber of Washington; three sisters: Rita Vogel of Keota, Martha Kleinmeyer of Iowa City and Celeste Woltering of Keota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Dolores in 2000; son: Thomas in 1949; grandson: Alan McNurlen; a sister: Bernadine Conklin and four brothers: Cletus, Clare, Luke and Edward.
