Marjorie I. Trusty, 79, of Iowa City, IA, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. An Iowa City visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the First Assembly of God Church, 1330 Keokuk Street, Iowa City, IA, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, IA with Pastor Harold Schutte officiating. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Memorial Chapel on Friday morning. Burial will be in Richwoods Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Missionaries of Africa (an organization dedicated to well drilling). The daughter of John W. and Florence A. (Graf) Hobson, Marjorie Inez was born on September 25, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She was a 1948 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a 1956 graduate of the University of Iowa. She married Dewey Trusty in July of 1953. Marjorie was in the United States Army from 1949 to 1953. At the time of her discharge she had obtained the rank of Corporal. She worked for the United States Post Office and retired as the Postmaster in Oakdale, IA. "Marge" was an intelligent, friendly, outgoing person known for her interest in people and government. She ran the Oakdale post office efficiently for many years and was "family" to many people. She supported Christian missions, especially well drilling in Africa, and animal care causes. Marjorie is survived by a sister, Imogene Chambers of Albuquerque, NM and a brother, Carl (Ruby) Hobson of Hendersonville, NC. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Doran and Myrtle Eicher, and three brothers, Elihu Hobson, Max Hobson, and Carroll Hobson.
