Marjorie Riepe, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the Henry County Health Center. Mrs. Riepe has donated her body for medical research at the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Roger Ricketts officiating. A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements. Marjorie was born on May 30, 1920, in Salem, IA, the daughter of Ray and Irene Simkin Cammack. She graduated from Salem High School. On July 27, 1941, she married Albert L. Riepe in Winter Park, FL. Marjorie taught in the Center, Star, and Prairie Gem Schools in rural Henry County. She was also employed part time as carrier agent for the Des Moines Register and worked for the J.C. Penney Company and HR Block. Marjorie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and was involved in the Presbyterian Women and Mariners. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine. Marjorie was very active as a leader for Cub Scouts, and volunteered countless hours for the 4-H Club, R.S.V.P. of Mt. Pleasant and the Henry County Health Center Auxiliary. She also conducted school tours, for many years, at Midwest Old Threshers. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Woods of Libertyville, IL; and two sons; Joseph Riepe of Preston, IA, and Michael (Heidi) Riepe of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Also surviving are two brothers, Dale Cammack of Salem IA, and Clyde Cammack of Cedar Rapids, IA; one sister, Lois Lantz of Olympia, WA; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Jerry Riepe, one brother, Elbert Cammack and by one sister, Mildred Morrow.
