Marjorie M. Van Dee, was born July 14, 1918 in Deep River, Iowa, the daughter of Marion & Matilda (Churkey) Furney. On January 28, 1936, she was united in marriage to Charles W. Van Dee at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, North English. Marjorie worked at Landmark for over 26 years. She was a life long resident of Iowa County. Marjorie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, flowers, camping, her cat "Backus" and the Iowa State Fair. Marjorie passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Highland Ridge Care Center at the age of 97 years.
Marjorie is survived by 5 children: Colene South (Ron Brewer) of Cedar Rapids, Pat Ritchie of Marengo, Cindy Van Dee of Williamsburg, Diane (Bill) Glenn of Oskaloosa and Denny (Carmen) Van Dee of Williamsburg, 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Nancy Van Dee of Oxford, a sister Elaine McCulley of Brooklyn. She was precede in death by her husband Charles, parents, 2 sons: Ronald and Kenneth Van Dee, 2 grandsons Noah and Dustin Schmidt, a son-in-law Jim Ritchie, 3 brothers: Clarence, Leo and Harvey Furney, 3 sisters: Hazel Moore, Bessie Langhben & Velma Wilson.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost will Preside. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Hall in Williamsburg with a Wake Service at 4:00 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.
