Marjorie L. Hourihan, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Arbor Court. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Salem Friends Church with Pastors Dylan Does and Nathan Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the New Horizons Habitat for Humanity or to the Salem Friends Church. Born March 29, 1914, in Atlanta, MO, Marjorie Lucille was the daughter of Otis and Laura Leyda Harrison. She spent her formative years in Northeast Missouri, and later graduated from Yarmouth High School. On May 4, 1932, she married Maurice Hourihan in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Hourihan resided in Henry County for all of her married life. She was a homemaker and did sewing and upholstering. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Salem Friends Church and the United Society of Friends' Women. Marjorie also attended the Grace Community Friends Church. She loved quilting and traveling, spending sixteen winters in Brownsville, TX. Her favorite times spent, were that with family and her dog, Lucy. Survivors include three daughters, Elsie and her husband Bob Ross of Sun City, AZ, Joyce and her husband William McElwee of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Doris and her husband, George Septer of Salem, IA; one son Charles Hourihan and his wife Linda of Mt. Pleasant, IA; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Adra Barr of West Burlington, IA. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Otis Harrison; and by three sisters, Ruby Mills, Mildred Boese and Dorothy Morris.
