Marjorie Frances Davisson

Marjorie Frances Davisson was born May 12, 1920 in rural Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Chez) Potsander. She attended Pleasant Mound, Richmond Public, Walnut, Snake Hollow schools and graduated from Kalona High School in 1939. On October 5, 1941 Marjorie was united in marriage to Donald Wellington Davisson at the Kalona United Methodist Church. They lived and farmed in rural Wellman until moving to Riverside in 1960. In 1991 they moved to a cottage at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. Marjorie spent most of her life helping family and friends. She enjoyed, baking, canning, gardening and singing. Marjorie died on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 96 years.
Marjorie is survived by two sons: Vance Davisson of Riverside, Vaughn (Cheryll) Davisson of Riverside; three grandchildren Brooke, Erica, James; and three great grandchildren James, Rebecca, and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and a sister Jessie Pyle.


Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Pleasantview Home. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for Marjorie and her family.
