HARPER-Marjorie Clarahan, age 95, of Harper, died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the English Valley Care Center in North English.
Marjorie was born January 23, 1929, near Sigourney, the daughter of John and Mae (Webb) Osweiler. She graduated from Kinross High School and attended Iowa Success Business School for one year. On April 20, 1949, she married Kenneth Clarahan at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kinross. The couple lived and farmed in the Harper area for many years and Marjorie was very active in their livestock and farming operation. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society and enjoyed taking care of her grandkids and great grandkids, gardening, tending to her flowers, push mowing her yard until age 90, baking cookies and her Angel food cake with special caramel frosting.
Survivors include six children: David (Deborah) Clarahan of Sigourney, Dennis (Sheryl) Clarahan of Harper, Daniel (Debra) Clarahan of Harper, Donna (Calvin) Clubb of Harper, Deanna (Alan) Collins of Ames and William (Denise) Clarahan of Brighton; 17 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and two sisters: Imogene Steele of Barnes City and Donna Daub of Kankakee, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Kenneth, infant great granddaughter: Mallory Clarahan; seven brothers: Edward, Paul, Mervin, Daniel, Joe, Robert and Benny Osweiler and a sister: Marcella Osweiler in infancy.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Fr. David Wilkening presiding. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the church, where there will be a vigil service at 3:30 p.m.
