Marjorie A. Van Sickle

KEOTA-Marjorie Van Sickle, age 91, of Keota, died Saturday, July 4, 2020, at the Keota Health Care Center.
Marjorie was born June 18, 1929, in Washington, Iowa, to Francis and Elizabeth (Sherbeck) Wright. She graduated from Keota High School in 1947 and attended Parsons College, then taught at Tyrone country school for a year. On December 29, 1947, she married William E. Van Sickle, Jr. in Keota. Marjorie owned and operated Iowa Tours and Travelers, drove a Mini Bus for Washington County, drove a school bus for the Keota School District and worked as a Home Health Aide for Keokuk County. She was a member of the United Church of Faith and loved the Iowa State Fair, birds and butterflies.
Survivors include four children: Patricia "Ann" (John) Greiner, Cheryl "Cheri" (Robert) Altenhofen, James "JP" (Terry) Van Sickle and Tonia "Toni" (Leon) Greiner, all of Keota; 16 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; brother: Richard (Jean) Wright of Reno, Nevada; sister: Holly Wold of Kissimmee, Florida and three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Wright of Keota, Jean Wright of Keota and Phyllis Van Sickle of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bill in 2008; grandsons: Justin and Aaron Greiner; sister: Marie Mayer and two brothers: Roger "Pete" Wright and David Wright.

Private family service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Rev. Shannon Pascual officiating. The service will also be livestreamed on the Powell Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota. Social distancing and mask usage are strongly encouraged.
