KEOTA- Marilyn "Joan" Netten-Anderegg, age 72, of Keota, died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Joan was born January 24, 1945, in Grinnell, the daughter of Tom and Louise (Beason) Whitehead. She graduated from New Sharon High School and received her LPN at Indian Hills Community College in 1984. Joan was a nurse at the Keota Clinic for several years then became the Keota City Clerk until her retirement. On May 2, 1964, she married Larry Netten. To this union three children were born: Lisa, Brian and Michael. She and Larry were later divorced. She then married Bill Anderegg on January 18, 1998. An active member of the Keota community, Joan belonged to the United Church of Faith, P.E.O. and helped start the Keota Q.R.S. She enjoyed playing bridge, visiting with friends, traveling, sewing, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two children: Lisa (Wes) Foster of Des Moines and Brian Netten of St. Paul, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Sydney, Jaclyn and Quincy Foster and sister: Janet (Dino) Horvath of Champlain, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Bill and son: Michael.
Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Pastors Wes Foster and Vince Homan officiating. Burial will be at the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
A memorial fund has been established for Keota Q.R.S., United Church of Faith and Mercy Hospital of Iowa City. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Joan and her family. Tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
