Marilyn Jane Hamrick was born June 11, 1940 in Cory, Pennsylvania the daughter of Sterling and Zola (Klopfenstein) Rediger. She graduated from Iowa Mennonite School in 1958. On June 11, 1971 she was united in marriage to Dale Hamrick in Des Moines. They have lived in Kalona since 1977. Marilyn had worked in several hospital's and the Farmers Savings Bank in Kalona before going to work at the University of Iowa Hospital as a ward clerk, where she worked 22 years before retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church. Marilyn died on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at her home in Kalona from complications of Leukemia at the age of 67 years. Marilyn is survived by her husband Dale of Kalona; 3 sons - Brett Hamrick of Round Lake, Illinois; Chad Hamrick and Randy Rediger of Kalona; 2 sisters - Mabel Schumann of Kalona; Virginia Miller of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and 3 brothers - Larry Rediger of Kalona; Bernard Rediger of Iowa City; and Jerry Rediger of Kalona. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial fund has been established for the Leukemia Foundation.
