Marilyn Lucille Butterbaugh

Kalona-Marilyn Lucille Butterbaugh was born March 25, 1953, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Clarence and Norma Jean (Snodgrass) Ross Sr. She graduated from Enlgish Valley High School. In June of 1969, Marilyn married Jim Carter in Kinross, they later divorced. Marilyn then married Tyrone Butterbaugh on July 1, 1978, in Kalona. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and Washington counties. Marilyn enjoyed fishing, reading, roller skating, rock collecting, playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Marilyn passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at her home in Kalona at the age of 69.

Marilyn is survived by 2 children, Julie Carter of Kalona and Jesse Carter of Lone Tree; daughter-in-law Annette Chesmore of Ft. Madison; step son Bill Goodwin of Iowa City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchild; two brothers, Butch (Mary) Ross of Kalona, Dave (Kara) Ross of MO; two sisters, Donna Ehrenfelt of Bentonville, AR, Sandy Blum of Riverside; numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces;

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, brother Tim Ross, 3 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, a grandchild, and a great niece.
                                            
According to Marilyn’s wishes there will be no service. A memorial has been established for Hospice of Washington County. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for Marilyn and her family.
