Marguerite Elizabeth Kinsinger was born September 4, 1914 near Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Frances (Kesselring) Kinsinger. She graduated from Sharon Center High School in 1933. On August 26, 1933 she was united in marriage to Ira Kinsinger in Adel, Iowa. They made there home in rural Wellman. Marguerite worked as a nurses aide at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for 27 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Windham Community Church, American Legion Auxiliary, American and Iowa Bell Collectors, Washington Township Rural Women. She helped organize the Washington Cherry Blossom 4H of Washington Township where she was a leader for 17 years. She also was a tour guide at the Kalona Historical Society. Marguerite died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 98 years. Marguerite is survived by a niece Elaine Sortor of Davenport, and two nephews Greg Van Egdon of Kalona and Gary Kinsinger of Coralville . She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ira in 1986, three brothers Earl, Ray, Clifford, two sisters Jennie Kinsinger, Gertrude Webster, and a niece Shirley Van Egdon. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Memory Gardens Chapel in Iowa City. Pastor Mark Jagnow will officiate. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Manor.
