Marguerite E. Plecker was born August 29, 1918, near Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of John and Addie (Reynolds) Kleinschmidt. She attended Hartsock rural school. On February 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Everette Plecker at the Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. They lived and farmed near Iowa City for 4 years and West Chester for 14 years. They moved to Wellman in 1955, where they owned and operated Wellman Cleaners for several years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling. Marguerite was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was the custodian for 12 years. She was a member of the Lioness Club and a 35 year member of the Rebakah Lodge. Marguerite died on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 94 years. Marguerite is survived by 4 children - Joyce Millice of Wellman; Karen Louise of Washington; Larry Plecker and wife Miriam of Kalona, Phyllis Martin of Wellman; 12 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters - Leona Buchmayer of Solon; Bessie Capper of Williamsburg; and a brother John (Vivian) Kleinschmidt of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers Emery, Joseph, and Roy and a grandson Daniel. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice Compassus.
