South English Dateline Marguerite Anne Wendt, age 96 of South English, died on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 1st from 4 pm to 7 pm at the funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. Marguerite was born on October 8, 1917, near Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Leita (Lanning) Dietze. She grew up in the Millersburg community and graduated from Millersburg High School. Marguerite married Charles E. King and they later divorced. She was married and widowed by husbands Charles E. Allen and Paul Wendt. Marguerite worked many years at the University of Iowa in the Dietary Department. She attended the Wellman Baptist Church. Marguerite enjoyed going to senior dinning, eating out, and doing crossword puzzles. She has lived the past fifteen years in South English with her son Terry and his wife June. Marguerite is survived by her children: Jacqueline (Richard) Stoltzfus of Johnstown, CO; Phyllis (Kevin) Sauter of rural Deep River, IA; Charles (Mary) King of Kansas City, MO; Terry (June) Allen of South English, IA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a sister Edna Hutton of Worth, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son Rick Allen, brothers Vaughn, and Melvin Dietze, sisters Mildred Wetherell and Virginia Geiger, and a great grandson Matthew Agnew.
