Margaret "Jeanne" Wallace died on September 15, 2012, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, Iowa. She was ninety years old and had recently developed more health issues. Margaret Jeanne Davis was born June 17, 1922 in Washington, Iowa to Rodney and Florence (Gesling) Davis. Margaret "Jeanne" grew up in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1940. She married Keith Norton on December 10, 1941 and they had three children: Stephen, Kathleen and Claudia. They were members of the United Methodist Church in Washington. Keith died in 1963 and Jeanne remarried Robert Wallace from Williamsburg, Iowa on October 4, 1964. They had one daughter, Robin. Margaret never met a stranger, loved all people and was known for her positive outlook on life. She loved to travel and in her later years moved and lived in Ft. Collins, Colorado and Mesa, Arizona. She was a member of the Elks Club and she worked for the Republican Party. She moved back to Kalona in 2009 to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gayle Gates, both husbands and her son Stephen. She is survived by three daughters: Kathleen and husband Craig Shellady of Kalona, Iowa, Claudia and Mike Kleinmeyer of Williamsburg, Iowa, Robin and Jeff Strayer of Columbus, Ohio, a daughter-in-law Nancy Norton of Green Valley, Arizona, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Inurnment will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012. A memorial fund has been established for Essence of Life Hospice and ALS. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
