SIGOURNEY-Margaret Lucille Hollingsworth, age 93, of Sigourney, died Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
Margaret was born March 7, 1928, in Sigourney, to Bert and Ella (Kleinschmidt) Linder and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1945. On November 21, 1947, she married Rex Leon Hollingsworth at the Sigourney United Methodist Church Parsonage. Margaret was a secretary at Sigourney Schools for several years. She later worked as a medical secretary for Drs. E.R. Gann and Lee McClenahan. Her last place of employment before retiring was in the office of the Keokuk County Hospital as an insurance clerk. Margaret was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Keokuk County Historical Society. She enjoyed her family and knitting, making thousands of dish cloths for family and friends.
Survivors include two sons: Randy (Connie) Hollingsworth of Omaha, Nebraska and Ken (Missy) Hollingsworth of Albia; seven grandchildren: Chad (Jill) Hollingsworth, Lindsay (Dave Walk) Steinhart, Mandy (Frank) Cox, Makenzie, Kordell, Kyle and Kody Hollingsworth; granddaughter-in-law: Crystal Hornback and six great grandchildren: Hailey Gillum, Grady and Maris Steinhart, Megan and Ashley Hollingsworth and Madelynn Hornback. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Rex in 1969; son: Terry Hollingsworth; daughter-in-law: Cindy Hollingsworth; grandson: Jesse Hornback; brother: Dean Linder and sister-in-law: Roberta Linder.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church, with Pastors Cathy Nutting and Vince Homan officiating. The service will also be livestreamed on the Powell Funeral Home facebook page. Burial will be at Pennington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
