Margaret Anne Wiedow, age 74, died following a sudden illness on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Keswick with Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery, rural Deep River. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Margaret Anne Wiedow was born on March 16, 1931, near Gaza, IA, the daughter of Henry and Alice Ahrens Mathiesen. Her family moved to Calumet, IA, where she often worked in her parent's restaurant She graduated from Calumet High School and . On May 20, 1951, she was married to Richard E. Wiedow in Keswick, IA. They farmed near Keswick until October 1983 when they moved into town. Margaret helped with the farming, mowing the lawn, gardening and raising chickens. Later on she helped those in the community who needed that extra little care. She was a member of the Keswick United Methodist Church, the UMW and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by a son Bruce Wiedow and wife Phyllis of Keokuk, IA; a sister Shirley Fessler of Calumet, IA; and a brother Bill Mathiesen (Sharon) of St. Paul, MN and a number of nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband in September 1984, an infant brother James Mathiesen, and a sister Dorothy Brandenburg.
