Marcia J. Readinger, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at her home. Visitation will begin after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3rd, at the First Presbyterian Church, 902 S. Walnut Street, Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Roger Ricketts officiating. Interment will be in the Burge Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Mt. Pleasant Public Library and Henry County Animal Rescue Organization. The daughter of Gilbert P. and Jeanne (Gilchrist) Maynard, Marcia Jeanne was born on November 11, 1948 in Iowa City, IA. In 1967 she graduated from University High School in Iowa City. She then earned her BA from the University of Iowa in 1971. On August 22, 1970, she married Steven M. Readinger in Iowa City, IA. They resided in Iowa City, Peoria, IL and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1978. Marcia worked for the Cedar Rapids Schools as an Elementary Special Education Teacher from 1971-1975. While in Mt. Pleasant she worked as a teacher's aide, as a substitute teacher and later as a volunteer for Van Allen Elementary. She has also worked as a library assistant at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served on the Christian Education Committee. Survivors include her husband Dr. Steve Readinger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a son, Dr. Luc (Mary) Readinger of Viroqua, WI and their son, Liam; a daughter, Erin Readinger of New London, IA; and a brother, Terry (Sue) Maynard of Reston, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents.
