Marcia L Potsander

WEST CHESTER - Marcia Louise Potsander was born February 1, 1923, in rural Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Peet) Henn. She graduated form Wellman High School in 1940 and attended Washington Junior College. She taught rural country school for 4 years. On August 18, 1945 she was united in marriage to Daryl Potsander at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. They made their home in the Wellman community until moving to West Chester in 1993. Marcia worked as the assistant librarian at the Wellman Scofield Public Library for 19 years, and then she worked in the kitchen at Parkview Manor for 9 years. Marcia was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir. She end joyed reading, her flower garden, family, being a girl scout leader, teaching Sunday school and loved dogs and horses. Marcia died on Friday, July 29, 2016 at her home in West Chester at the age of 93 years.
Marcia is survived by 4 children Dee (Patty) Potsander of Davenport, Linda Potsander of West Chester, Dennis (Lynn) Potsander of Fort Madison, Kay (Dana) Kirby of Des Moines, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a sister Margaret (Howard) Miller of Glendale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1998.


Celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Pastor Moody Colorado will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.
