Marchell "Marty" McNevin

Marchell L. "Marty" McNevin, 53, of Wayland, IA, died peacefully, Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the First Christian Church, 1905 South Junction Road, Fairfield, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Southeast Iowa Renal Dialysis. Born October 7, 1960 in Oskaloosa, IA, Marchell Lynn "Marty" was the daughter of Leslie and Barbara Kay (Noel) Malin. With her father in the military, the family moved many times. She graduated from high school in Memphis, TN. She attended Memphis State and the University of Tennessee at Martin, and she acquired degrees in accounting and nursing. On April 21, 2000 she married Scott Anthony McNevin in Mt. Pleasant, IA. As a registered nurse, Marty worked in various places as a home health and traveling nurse. She had been employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and at Henry County Health Center. Marty enjoyed doing crafts which included scrapbooking and stamping. Together Marty and Scott loved NASCAR, the Indy 500, and going to car races. An avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye fan, she watched many games of her favorite teams. She was a great cook and wonderful mother to her daughter, Paula. Her four little dachshund "redheads" brought much joy to her life. Survivors include her husband, Scott, of Wayland, IA; her father Les (Lorrena) Malin of Pella, IA; a daughter, Paula (Scott) Stout of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a sister, Mitzi Gellman of Washington, IA; and her mother-in-law, Martha (Bob) Kistler of Fairfield, IA. Preceding Marty in death are her mother, Barbara Kay Malin; and her grandparents.
