Magdalena Beachy age 84 of Edina, Missouri, formerly of Kalona died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri following a short illness. Magdalena was born Monday, June 2, 1924, in rural Kalona, Iowa the daughter of Edwin and Esther (Miller) Hershberger. On December 3, 1946 she was united in marriage to Jonas Beachy in rural Kalona. Jonas died on March 8, 1998. Magdalena moved to Edina, Missouri in March of 2007. She was a member of the Oak View Mennonite Church in Edina. Magdalena is survived by 11 children - Rhoda Mae (Daniel) Miller of Abbotsford, WI.; David (Joy) Beachy of Athens, WI.; Nelson (Kathy) Beachy of Kalona; Esther (Noah Jr.) Miller of Edina, MO.; Rachel (Menno) Miller of Grayson, KY.; John (Ruby) Beachy of Thorp, WI.; Marilyn (Andrew) Miller of Kalona; Gloria (Lamar) Steiner of West Liberty, KY.; Morris (Christine) Beachy of Tremonton, UT.; Norman (Marilyn) Beachy of Kalona; Myron (Amanda) Beachy of West Liberty, KY.; 99 grandchildren; 81 great grandchildren; 4 brothers - Paul, Joe, Mark and John Hershberger; and a sister Rhoda Hershberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 infant grandsons - Lynn Beachy, David Miller, Gabriel Beachy; and a great grandson Darnell Beachy. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Sharon Bethel Church in rural Kalona. Ministers in charge are James Swartzentruber, Virgil Schrock, and John Miller. Burial will be in the Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Iowa Clothing Center Building in rural Kalona. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
