Marion William Glandon was born on September 2, 1914, NEAR South English, IA , the son of Roy C. And Roxie Barnes Glandon. He grew up in North English and graduated from North English High School. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. On January 16, 1938 William married Leona E. Gasper in Oskaloosa, IA. They lived a short time in Illinois, Washington, IA and then moved to Williamsburg, IA in 1956. William was a carpenter and when his day was over, he relaxed by working in his yard and making small projects for his family. William died of cardio-obstructive pulmonary disease on Friday, April 20, 2007 at his home in Williamsburg. He lived 92 years, 7 months and 19 days. He is survived by his wife Leona of Williamsburg, IA; daughter Mary Lynn Kretchmer of Osage Beach, MO; a son-in-law James Riess of Conroy, IA; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Patricia Glandon and daughter Nancy Riess. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with Pastor Edwin Jordan officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM until service time on Tuesday. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
