Lynn Fentem Kipling, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, August 29, 2011 at Arbor Court. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 2, 2011, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at the Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to the American Cancer Society. Born June 21, 1938 in Colchester, IL, Lynn was the son of Cecil and Hazel (Fentem) Kipling. He graduated from Colchester High School in 1956. Following his graduation he served in the United States Navy from 1957-1961 and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. On June 15, 1959, he married Barbara Jean Blackhurst in Blandinsville, IL. They later divorced. On February 12, 1977 he married Sharon Schnicker. She passed away in November 1991. Margaret Boecker has been his friend and special companion for many years. He has resided in the Mt. Pleasant area since 1977. He began working at a lumber yard in Blandinsville, IL. He then worked for Blue Star Potato Chip Company in Burlington, IA as a delivery driver. Later he was a driver for the Kitchen Cook Potato Chip Company in Farmington, IL. After moving to Mt. Pleasant he worked for Andersen Erickson Dairy, Dave's Super Valu and most recently, for Super Wash. Lynn had an outgoing personality and enjoyed walking all over Mt. Pleasant. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoyed watching all sports. He was always in attendance at many of his granddaughters' sporting events. Occasionally, Lynn enjoyed going to the Riverboat Casino. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his special friend, Margaret Boecker of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three sons, Craig (Gina) Kipling of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Rodney Kipling of Conner, MT, and Kurt Kipling of Macomb, IL; one daughter, Darci Tran of Winfield, IA; two brothers, Cecil (Viola) Kipling of Blue Ridge, GA and Kent (Dorothy) Kipling of Colchester, IL; one sister, Bonnie Beck of Colchester, IL; three granddaughters, Kelsey and Lexis Tran, and Kaylie Duesenberg-Kipling; and two step-grandsons, Richie Vandenberg and Danny Vandenberg. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sharon Kipling.
