Lynn F. Harriman, was born October 22, 1936, near North English, Iowa, the son of Jewell and Zelda (Holland) Harriman. He graduated from North English High School in 1955. On July 6, 1957, Lynn married Dorothy Lekin.. They later divorced. Lynn then married Doris Possehl Ohlen on December 17, 1978, in Marengo, Iowa. They divorced in 2003. Lynn farmed for many years. After moving to Marengo he owned and operated Iowa County Livestock Auction. He moved to Bloomfield where he raised and sold horses. Lynn later moved to Ottumwa and operated a pawn shop and auto sales business. Lynn was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed his horses and John Wayne movies. Lynn died on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 77 years. He is survived by a daughter-in-law Julie Harriman of North English; a step daughter Heidi (Kevin) Durbin of Grinnell; 2 grandchildren: Trent and Taylor Harriman of North English; 2 step grandchildren: Hayes and Hattie Durbin of Grinnell; and a family friend Jeannie Richardson of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Terry Harriman. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service in North English. Pastor Luke Caster will officiate. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday January 9th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM service time at the Powell Funeral Home.
