Luella Anna Carrie Brockshus

Williamsburg- Luella Anna Carrie Brockshus was born March 10, 1919 near Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Adolf & Minnie (Wardenburg) Wille. She was baptized on April 6, 1919 and confirmed on April 17, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School. On January 8, 1939 Luella was united in marriage to Alfred August Brockshus at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She has lived at the current farm since 1951. Luella was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.Luella was a true farm women who canned everything raised in her garden and gathered on her farm even at the age of 96. All her bountiful meals were made from scratch and ending with homemade desserts with apple pie being the speciality. She loved to have visitors stop by and felt bad if she didn't have cookies, cake or pie " on hand" to offer them. What was best if she could send something home with them including her fresh eggs. Luella was as much at home on the farm tractor as she was on her riding lawnmower. She loved the outdoors and looked forward to spring and summer every year, winter not being her favorite season.
Luella died of complications of old age, on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 96 years.

She is survived by a son Lloyd Brockshus of Williamsburg; two daughters Judy (Gary) Stevens of Cedar Rapids and Karen (Joe'd) Axmear of South English; four grandchildren: Will Axmear, Jesse Axmear, Ellen Axmear and Billie Gervais; ten great grandchildren; a brother: Donald (Delaine) Wille of Williamsburg; a grandson-in-law: Lynne Pope of North English and two sisters-in-law: Leona Wille of Williamsburg and Edith Wille of Solon. She was preceded by her parents, husband in 1991, granddaughter: Amney Pope; a sister: Gertrude Drueker and two brothers: Adolf and Eldon Wille.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Rev. Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
