E. Lucille Farr, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Congregational Church with Pastor Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salem Library Building Trust Fund. Born May 9, 1915, near Wayland, IA, Elsie Lucille was the daughter of Arch and Effie Smith Ross. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1933. On August 5, 1939, she married Malcolm D. Farr in Davenport. Lucille was a member of the former Salem Methodist Church and attended the Open Bible Church in Mt. Pleasant. She was a homemaker and worked at Hope Haven as a teacher aide for 10 years. Lucille was a member of the Salem Kitchen Band and was an avid Hawkeye basketball fan. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, cooking, and bird watching. Lucille is survived by one son, Jim (Pam) Farr of Burlington, IA; one daughter, Connie (Tom) Weatherman of Salem, IA.; two sisters, Hope Hoyt and Virginia (J.C.) Boyd all of Mt. Pleasant, IA.; five grandchildren, Stacy Farr, Michael (Christy) Farr, Shawn (Nikki) Sullivan, Natalie (Tony) McDowell and Katie (Cory Westphal) Weatherman; and three great-grandchildren, Madison and Delaney McDowell and Raeger Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Hoyt, Guy, Ray and Emmett Ross.
