Riverside-Lowell Keith Gingerich was born March 17, 1957 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Duane and Marilyn (Small) Gingerich. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and attended Iowa State University. Lowell was united in marriage to Delores Bender on March 11, 1978 at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church near Kalona. Together the couple was blessed with five children. Lowell has lived in the Kalona and Riverside communities where he farmed all his life. He enjoyed being on the farm working and he loved spending time with his family. Lowell was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church and in his youth was a member of the FFA and received the Iowa Farmer Degree. Lowell died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at the age of 49 years due to complications following a bone marrow transplant. Lowell is survived by his wife Delores of Riverside; five children: Jeremiah Gingerich and Lynnette (Matt) Pool all of Kalona, Zachary Gingerich, Victor Gingerich (special friend Megan Bontrager) and Harlan Gingerich all of Riverside; his parents: Duane and Marilyn Gingerich of Kalona; two brothers: Ron (Darlene) Gingerich of Riverside and Kevin (Sue) Gingerich of Bloomfield; a sister: Evelyn (Vernon) Smith of West Liberty and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Clifford and Edith Small and Alva Sr, and Mildred Gingerich and an uncle Howard Small. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church near Kalona. Pastor Don Patterson and Rev. Kevin Gingerich will officiate. Burial will be in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 pm and Monday 9:00 am until 8:00pm with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona.
