Kalona- Lovina Jane Hochstedler was born June 8, 1937 in on the farm in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Sam G. & Elizabeth (Otto) Hochstedler. She went to West Lincoln School #6 through the 8th grade. Lovina accepted the Lord and was baptized and became a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church and attended Lending Hands in Washington. She was a resident of Pleasantview Home for 13 years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing bingo and kittens. Lovina died on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona, at the age of 80 years 9 months 1 day.
She is survived by seven siblings: Lydia Hochstedler, Martha Helmuth, Jonas (Ann) Hochstedler all of Kalona, Monroe (Ruby) Hochstedler of Tallahassee, FL, Darlene (John) Miller of Hutchinson, KS, Nelson (Lavina) Hochstedler of Grand Blanc, MI and Viola Hochstedler of Kalona; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded by her parents; and six siblings Ruth Hochstedler, Cora Hochstedler, Alta Fern Kropf, J. Wesley Hochstedler, Verna Hochstedler and Mary Alice Hochstedler.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Kalona, Iowa. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Yoder -Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Memorials may be given to Pleasantview Home.
