Lovelle Ramona Trusler was born October 19, 1915 in Madison, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Verna (Small) Sakulin. She moved to Kalona with her family when she was 3 years old. She graduated from the Kalona High School in 1933. On April 13, 1937 she was united in marriage to Reese Trusler in Kalona. Lovelle has lived in Kalona all of her life where she was a homemaker and she assisted her husband at the Standard Service Station he owned and operated for 22 years. She was a member of the United Christian and Baptist Church and the ABC Club. Lovelle died suddenly on Friday, September 2, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 89 years. Lovelle is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Reese in June of 1990; two brothers - Jay Sakulin and Glen Sakulin; and two sisters - Marie Sakulin and Margaret Harper Chrisee.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the Kalona Historical Society.
