North English Dateline Louise Emma Hahn, age 100, died following a short illness on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at the English Valley Care Center in North English. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English, Iowa. Rev. James Stout will officiate. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 pm until service time. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. A memorial fund has been established for the North English Library. Louise E. Hahn was born on October 3, 1908 in Brooklyn, IA a daughter of Benjamin F. and Ion Shannon Torrance. She grew up in the Brooklyn community and graduated from Brooklyn High School in1927. She married Lloyd E. Davidson on June 22, 1936. Louise lived in Marengo, Aurora, IL, in California, Kellogg and later in North English. She taught school and worked in retail sales. She was later united in marriage to Leland Claude Hahn on August 21, 1958 in Greeley, Co. They owned and operated a locker in Kellogg for 13 years retiring in 1970. Leland preceded her in death in January 1998. Louise enjoyed reading. She became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in June 2000. Louise died following a short illness on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at the English Valley Care Center. She shared the excitement of her 100th birthday with all of her closest relatives on October 3, 2008, at the English Valley Care Center. She is survived by a daughter Judy (Dave) Hergesheimer of Thousand Oaks, CA; step-daughters Johnette (Gary) Timm of Guernsey, IA and Linda (Lester) York of Iowa Falls, IA; a step-son Winston (LaVonne) Hahn of Atoka, TN; 2 grand daughters: Anne Judge and Leslie Martinez; 6 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son Terry Davidson, sisters Esther Averill and Phyllis Hall.
