Lorraine May Zscherny

Lorraine May Zscherny, age 92, of Middle Amana, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the Middle Amana Cemetery, Middle Amana, with Dennis Fulkerson officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:15 a.m., until 10:45 a.m. at Kloster Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service. A memorial fund has been established.

Lorraine is survived by her children Constance “Connie” Bahr, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Michael (Barbara) Zscherny, of Ely; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Helene Schaedlich, her husband Theo, in May 2013, a sister Gladys DeGood and a son-in-law Kenny.

Lorraine May Schaedlich was born November 21, 1927, in High Amana, the daughter of Fred and Helene (Heinze) Schaedlich. She graduated from Amana High School. She was united in marriage to Theo Zscherny in 1947, in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Middle Amana. She was a member of the Amana Church Society. Lorraine worked for many years at the Amana Woolen Mill, in Amana. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and cooking. Lorraine and Theo moved to the Highland Ridge Senior Living in 2000 and participated in all activities. The staff was considered family and lovingly took care of her, especially the last three years. Sunday dinners at Highland Ridge were very special.
