KEOTA-Loretta C. Stoutner, age 86, of Keota, died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at the Maplewood Manor in Keota following a brief illness. Loretta was born July 30, 1920, near Wellman, to Otto and Cora (Wetrich) Ossman and grew up in the Wellman community. She graduated from Delta High School, received one year of cosmetology training and worked as a cosmetologist for two years. On October 27, 1945, she married Burl Stoutner in Denver, Colorado. The couple lived and farmed in the Keota Community for several years. Loretta also was a cook at the Keota Community Schools for 18 years, retiring in 1990. She moved into Keota in 1989. Loretta was a member of the United Church of Faith and the Rebekah Lodge and enjoyed her card clubs, babysitting her grandchildren, mini bus trips and going out to eat. Survivors include three children: Richard Stoutner and wife Marlene of Keota, Lynn Stoutner of Ames and Barbara Calhoon and husband Rick of Worthington, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Rebecca, Rikki and Matthew Stoutner, Jason Calhoon and Corey and wife Nikki Calhoon; one great grandson: Jackson Calhoon; one sister: Marjorie Hotchkiss of Harper and one brother: Harold Ossman of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Burl in 1977 and one sister: Dorothy Lyle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2006, at the United Church of Faith in Keota with Pastor Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2006, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
