Loretta R. Grimm, age 79, died Monday, February 13, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Community Church, rural deep River, IA on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 10:00 AM with the Pastor Dan Dickey officiating. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery, rural Deep River. Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Loretta Rose Grimm was born on August 29, 1926 near Kinross, IA, the fourth child of Elmer and Tillie Conrad Kiracofe. She lost her mother at an early age and was raised by her step mother Tracy Cupp Kiracofe and her father, in the Green Castle area north of Oxford, IA. She was united in marriage to Cecil Franklin Grimm on September 4, 1945 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Together they farmed, milked cows and raised their two sons, Elmer & Daryl. She was a meticulous housekeeper and avid gardener who enjoyed sharing her abundant produce with others. Her greatest joy was her two grandchildren and her love for her Sunday School kids. Loretta died Monday, February 13, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA following an extended illness. She lived 79 years. She is survived by two sons: Elmer and Dolores of North English, IA, and Daryl & Susie of Colfax, IA; two grandchildren: Janel Grimm-Burgess and husband Timothy of Springfield, MO and Jeffrey Grimm of North English, IA and fiancee Christine Ahrens; a great grandson Eddie Burgess; and a sister Margaret Novak of Oxford, IA. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and husband in June 2004, brothers Flavian & Edward Kiracofe.
