KEOTA-Loretta M. Bombei, age 92, of Keota, joined her family in heaven Sunday, May 16, 2021, at the Keota Health Care Center.
Loretta was born October 20, 1928, in Keokuk County, Iowa, to Nick and Josephine (Bohrofen) Heisdorffer and attended country school. On September 14, 1957, she married Herbert Bombei at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in rural Harper. The couple lived and farmed in the Keota community near Talleyrand. Loretta was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the TLS Club and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the Harper dances in her younger years, gardening, quilting, helping others, her pets and the Iowa State Fair.
Survivors include seven children: Joyce (Rich) Northup of Tipton, Lorraine (Kirk) Albert of Sigourney, Nicholas Bombei of Keota, Steven (Laura) Bombei of Keota, David (Kay) Bombei of Wellman, Kathy (Kenny) Sieren of Keota and Eric (Belinda) Bombei of Solon; 16 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Herbert in 2014; four sisters: Viola Weber, Lavera Weber, Lucille Sieren and Delores Bombei and two brothers: Everett Heisdorffer and Leonard Heisdorffer.
Memorial graveside service and burial will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in rural Harper, with Fr. Robert Lathrop officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Church of Clear Creek Township. A time of fellowship will be held following the burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Church of Clear Creek Township.
A memorial fund has been established for the Clear Creek Heritage Association, Keota Veteran's Memorial Fund, or Essence of Life Hospice. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Loretta and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
