SIGOURNEY-Lois Kathryn Williams, age 91, of Sigourney, formerly of Ollie, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Sigourney Care Center, following a brief illness. Lois was born July 3, 1915, on a farm near Ollie, the daughter of Rev. David Franklin and Jeanette Catherine (Yule) Shelly. She attended Brick country school, graduated from Ollie High School in 1932 and attended McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas. On August 12, 1934 she married Howard Keith Williams at her parents' home near Ollie. They farmed northeast of Ollie until 1960 when they moved to Ollie and owned the Williams Insurance Agency. In 2002 Lois moved to Sigourney and lived there until her death. She was a member of the South Keokuk Church of the Brethren, the Women's Fellowship, Three River Rovers Camping Club, Helping Hand Sunday School Class and the Ollie Grandmothers Club. Survivors include three children: Richard (Karen) Williams of Ollie, Marilyn (Sam) Horras of Ollie and Madonna (Phil) Shaver of Sigourney; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Howard in 1979; one grandson: Douglas Edward Horras; two sisters: Blanche Singleton and Beulah Coffman and two brothers: Paul Shelly and Rev. Edwin Shelly. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at the English River Church of the Brethren near South English with Rev. Beth Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Ollie Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2007, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
