Williamsburg-Lloyd E. Swain was born November 28, 1936 near Marengo, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Hannah (Misel) Swain. He attended rural schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School. Lloyd was united in marriage to Nancy Byram on June 7, 1959 at the Millersburg Methodist Church. Together the couple has lived on a farm east of Williamsburg. Lloyd was a life long farmer and worked at Fetzer Amoco for 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting Oliver tractors and Studebaker cars and trucks. Lloyd died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at his home after congestive heart failure at the age of 72 years. He is survived by his wife: Nancy of Williamsburg; three children: Diane Yoder of Williamsburg, Brian (Geri) Swain of Oxford and TeriLea (Terry) Schwarting of Marengo; five grandchildren: Michelle Swain, Melissa Swain, Shantel Schwarting, Jesse Yoder and ShaeLyn Schwarting; two step grandchildren: Jeremy Biwer and Cory Miller; three great grandchildren: Aaron and Matthew Perdue and Sierra Henry; a sister: Shirley Wachal of Cedar Rapids. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established.
