Lloyd Richard Walker was born on September 6, 1935 in Rose Hill, IA the son of Lloyd and Nellie Inez Lockard Walker. He was raised in the What Cheer community. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the James Murphy American Legion Post #319 in Keswick. He worked with heavy equipment making roads and doing terracing. Lloyd lived and worked in Nebraska before moving to Delta in the 1990's. In November 2007, Lloyd moved back to Milligan, Nebraska to live with his daughter Vicki. Lloyd died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the VA Hospital in Grand Island, NE following a long illness. He lived 72 years, 10 months and 21 days. His body was cremated and a graveside service with military rites will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg. Rev. Julie Sterling will officiate. He is survived by a daughter Vicki (Scott) Lock of Milligan, NE; sisters: Velma Padgett of Eddyville, IA and Erma Giffen of MN; and 3 grandsons: Lance, Zachary & Travis Lock. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vada Russell, Geraldine Hicklen and Dora Mae Fowler and a brother Dannie Walker.
