Lloyd L. Duncan, Sr., 70, of Hillsboro, IA, died Friday, July 29, 2016, in the emergency room of Henry County Health Center.The family will host a celebration of Lloyd's life from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Hillsboro Community Center. Born July 23, 1946, in Washington, IA, Lloyd Lavern was the son of Merle Lilbern and Lavern Claire Leffler Duncan. He attended school in Columbus City, Ia. On May 3, 1986, he married Patricia Kay Johnson at the Hillsboro Christian Church.For 17 years Lloyd was a supervisor at Hawkeye Steel. He then worked as a contractor for Bill Young Construction Company and then the Rodney Hoover Construction Company. He retired in 2008. Spending time with family was Lloyd's favorite pastime. He served on the Hillsboro City Council. He loved the outdoors and the opportunities it provided such as hunting, fishing, and turtle trapping. Lloyd was a wonderful woodworker and could make anything and everything, specializing in children's toys. Along with his loving wife, Patty, of 30 years, Lloyd is survived by two daughters, Jill (Larry) Royer of Guthrie Center, IA, and Shannon (Mike Nelson) Duncan of Hillsboro, IA; two sons, Lloyd (Laura) Duncan of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Lloyd Duncan, Jr. of Burlington, IA; two brothers, Richard (Delores) Duncan of Fredonia, IA, and Jimmy Duncan of Kaycee, WY; and one sister, Joanne Murdock of Elma, IA. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Merlene Kraft, and Arlene D. Jobe; and one brother Kenneth Duncan.
